Job Title: Children & Youth Coordinator
Location: Mt. Nebo Church & Christian Learning Center
Hours: 12–15 hours per week
Schedule: 3 days onsite (including Sundays), with possible telework for lesson planning
Position Summary:
Mt. Nebo Church in Boonsboro, MD is seeking a passionate and committed Children & Youth Coordinator to lead, develop, and nurture the spiritual growth of children and youth from pre-K through high school. This role combines lesson planning, program development, and hands-on ministry with both the Christian Learning Center and the broader Mt. Nebo Church community. The coordinator will work closely with church leadership and other volunteers to create engaging, faith-based experiences that foster a deeper relationship with God.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and curriculum for children and youth
- Lead weekly children’s ministry on Sundays and facilitate youth gatherings immediately after service
- Organize and oversee engaging activities, programs, and social events that support spiritual development
- Collaborate with church leaders to plan seasonal and special events, including Vacation Bible School (VBS)
- Evaluate and track the effectiveness of programs and initiatives to ensure alignment with ministry goals
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all children and families
- Participate in strategic planning with the Director of the Christian Learning Center and the Pastor
- Maintain communication with parents, volunteers, and church leadership
- Ensure compliance with all safety and background check requirements
- Provide occasional social media posts for both the Church and the Christian Learning Center
Additional Information:
Schedule includes:
o Two weekdays (flexible)
o Sunday (required) for ministry activities and services
Worksite: Primarily onsite with optional telework for planning and preparation
VBS Hours: Additional hours available January–Summer for VBS preparation and leadership
Required: Background check and fingerprinting (paid for by the employer) & Safe Gatherings training
Supervision:
This position reports to the Pastor of Mt. Nebo Church and Director of the Christian Learning Center.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children and youth in a faith-based setting preferred
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
- Ability to develop creative and engaging lesson plans
- A heart for ministry and commitment to Christian values
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and families
